Our baby room caters from birth to 18 months of age. We follow ratio of 1:3 and we can have up to 12 children in the baby room per session. Our room is divided into two sections, we have a cosy area where the babies can chill out and relax, sleep & participate in more quiet and sensory play. Our other side of the room is more open for children to explore and access the different areas. Our different areas within the room consist of; role play, messy play, creative table, writing table, science and nature and book corner.
We use lots of natural materials and open ended resources to create a stimulating and inviting learning and environment. We take our babies out twice daily depending on the weather.
During the day the babies are offered; breakfast, lunch, fresh fruit snack and a light tea. As we are part of Statwell scheme, we ensure that the babies receive balanced and nutritious meals.
Until the babies reach the age of one, we cannot give some sweet puddings due to future dental hygiene.
From our Startwell programme, the NHS have advised that all children over one should no longer be using bottles and formula. We have implemented this advice in our baby room. There is a member of staff who works in the room who can offer support and advice as they are part of he start well lead.

The toddler/ tweenie children are ages between 18 months to 3 years, we work on an adult to child ratio of 1:4. Our maximum intake of children per session is 20.
The toddler room is split into different areas, we have made them warm, cosy & inviting for the children to feely access. Areas include science & nature where we have two pet turtles, the children enjoy watching them swim, help to feed them, & learn about the animals. We have a mark making area with different writing tools available to the children at all times, a creative area, sand/water tray and a book area.
Toddler room are very lucky to be able to use a free flow system as their back door leads onto our beautiful gardens and quite regularly the door is left open for the children to choose to explore the outdoors.
Toddler room staff work hard to promote early independence. We have a self-serve breakfast bar, the children are encouraged to pour their own drinks at meal times and have access to a water fountain throughout the day.
Each child will have their own keyworker that will be available to parents each day to discuss how their child is getting on and be on hand to support both parent & child with development steps such as help and support with toilet training.

When children move into preschool we start the preparation for the big move to school. We have more routine, they are more independent and the learning, although still individual is more structured. The expectations placed on the children are raised, this is mainly done through positive praise, setting expectations and promoting independence.
The ratio for preschool is 1:8 and we can have up to 20 children in the room at one time with 3 or 4 staff. Children are expected to serve their own dinner, pour their own drinks, make the right choices and set an example to the younger children in the nursery.
A typical day in preschool will involve various activities including: wake up, shake up, circle/key group time, free choice/adult led activities, lunch, tooth brushing, story/song time, creative play and lots of time outdoors. We enjoy regular outings to the local farm and library and have visited other local tourist attractions e.g. Sarehole Mill.

OUR GARDENs
Our gardens are designed to inspire the children's play. We have a large space designed to aid free flow play and little areas set up for children to explore the magical pockets of beauty. These involve story corner, bugs hotel, theatre school, role play, mud kitchens, gardening and planting construction and sensory play.
